New York Fashion Week: Closed

At first glance, the sheer button-downs and striped tanks looked like pieces we’d seen before — in our own closet. But further examination of Closed’s prefall line revealed a fresh equilibrium of Club Monaco smoothness and Vince’s luxurious ease.

Tuxedo stripe chinos and supple leather bombers easily work from sunrise to sundown. Made in Italy — gets us every time.

New York Fashion Week: Vivienne Tam



Name of the game: Mix and match. At Tam’s aptly named Shangri-La Remix show, unlikely pairings worked like a charm — brocades paired with tribal prints, collared shirts under laser-cut sheaths, and cigarette pants teamed with wrap skirts.

Head-turners: Oversize wide-leg trousers; two-texture wrap dresses; and fluffy Mongolian collars, scarves, and ruffs.

Styling trick: Let the ends of your hair peek out from under the ruff and — voila — your do becomes part of the accessory.
