Screen Play: Sundance 2013 “The East”

The Gist: An espionage thriller about a collective known as The East gives evil corporations a taste of their own medicine. And it’s complete anarchy.
The Stars: Brit Marling, Alexander Skarsgård, Ellen Page, and Patricia Clarkson.
The Buzz: The film, which is inspired by a Buy Nothing Day-turned-Buy Nothing All Summer, comes from the Sound of My Voice crew — writer/director Zal Batmanglij and co-writer Brit Marling (with a little help from producer Tony Scott), who practiced what they preached and spent months living off the grid as freegans.
